1001 Best Uses for Vinegar

Vinegar...nectar of the gods?
Okay, so this post really isn't an original by me, but it is something that I'm passionate about today. You see, the garbage disposal started stinking up the house BIG TIME!!!! I knew there had to be a way to freshen it without using any harsh chemicals. Usually just dropping some citrus fruit peels down in the disposal would work, but I only have a banana and that doesn't do the job.

So, with a little research, I found a great site called "1001 Uses for White Distilled Vinegar". There I found exactly what I was looking for! Just follow these easy steps:

  1. Pour basic baking powder into drain until it is covered.
  2. Pour basic white distilled vinegar down drain until reaction with baking soda is finished.
  3. Run cold water and run disposal until vinegar scent is gone (along with sour odor that was there before).
Once it is done, you'll no longer have that sour odor coming from your sink. A good way to keep that odor from building up is at least once a week, fill sink up with water. With water running, unplug sink and turn on disposal. Let run for TWO (2) minutes. This will help keep the disposal from souring and causing foul odors.

So, with that, take a look at the link above on the best uses for vinegar. It's not just for windows!
