Penny Pinching on Art

Accomplished! That's how I feel! I've spend the better half of today straightening, cleaning, and organizing my home, which, by the way, is a small apartment. So, having the ability to do this in a day might not be that big of a deal, but it is to me.

The picture to the right is one I took two years ago. Gone are the busy curtains, replaced with a pretty, solid, red curtain. The coffee table has been has been turned to run along the love seat, and has been topped with a gorgeous hand quilted table runner. I'd take a photo, but I'm too tired to move any further than where I am right now.

The paintings on the wall are actually prints I found at Walmart for $20 each ($10 each for the two smaller ones). It doesn't have to cost a fortune to decorate the walls with art. Places like Big Lots, Old Time Pottery, and the like carry cute objects at more reasonable prices. Candle stick holders, vases, frames, and prints can be had for as low as $5 a piece.

I just recently visited a local Big Lots and found the greatest collage of frames for only $15. With a great photo editor and a camera, I can load it up with great photos of family and friends. I also found two small prints for $5 each that perfect complimented the collage. I hope to hang them tomorrow after church, in hopes to finish off my dining room area.

So, be creative and frugal at the same time! Visit those discount stores and find the buried treasures! Enjoy!
