Packing, Decluttering, and Moving

Well, the house has gone through inspection and the back and forth between myself and the seller has finished. She fixed the small stuff and is giving me money to fix the bigger stuff. I'm cool with that and already making plans to get those things fixed or replaced. The biggest thing will be the garage door, which I think I'll have enough to replace.

But now it's on the mortgage company to get things going. Next up is the appraisal. It is nice that the mortgage company does have a website where I can check at any point to see where they are in the process. Of course, it has only been a couple of days since the inspection conversation, so I'm pretty sure the appraisal isn't finished yet.

Now, next step for me is to start the declutter and packing process. I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment, and I really don't understand why. The room that has me most perplexed is the one I've worked hard on trying to get decluttered in the first place. I've gone into the closet and noted that everything in there is already packed, so no worry there.

The worry is that I'm hosting a jewelry party at the end of this month and I don't know what to do with the boxes that will already be packed. I want my apartment to look nice for the party, but I don't want it to hinder the packing and decluttering process. Maybe if I just warn people up front that there will probably be some boxes stacked in the corner and bare shelves at that time.

Why did I schedule that in the middle of a move? Don't ask. I'm still trying to figure that one out myself. But, I was also thinking that I wouldn't need to be packed that far yet, since I'll still have a month left before the big move.

I've already scheduled the movers to make the move for me. I decided to spend the extra money doing that rather than ruin anymore friendships trying to rope them into breaking their backs at my expense. Instead, the professionals will be coming in and doing it for me. And all for just a little more than what renting a truck and ordering pizzas would have cost me in the long run.

I'm super excited about this move. It isn't my first home, but it sure feels like it since it has been over 6 years since I had one to call my own.
